About Dr Brynn

Dr. Brynn H. Ewen, DPM followed in the footsteps of her father, Dr. Elliott Hoffman, DPM, who was a podiatric surgeon in Ottawa, Canada.  He adored his patients and loved going to work every day.  He was her inspiration and role model for a happy, fullfilling, and balanced life.

Dr. Ewen, her husband Mark, and their two boys, Ryland and Sam, live in downtown Palo Alto. She has competed in 5 marathons with the ultimate goal of qualifying for the Boston Marathon. In addition to running, she also enjoys cycling, golf, skiing, hiking and all of the activities that Palo Alto and the Bay Area have to offer.

Dr. Ewen completed her undergraduate studies at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario, Canada.  She then headed to San Francisco to attend the California College of Podiatric Medicine and was awarded the President's Scholarship for all four years of medical school.  After medical school, Dr. Ewen completed a 3-year Podiatric Surgical Residency based at St. Mary’s Medical Center in San Francisco.  Due to a strong interest in health and fitness and the desire for further training, Dr. Ewen applied for and was accepted into a Sports Medicine Fellowship program at the Palo Alto Medical Foundation (PAMF). She was a fellow in the Department of Sports Medicine and gained valuable experience in treating active patients of all ages and levels, from the novice athlete to the Olympic athlete.

After completing her Sports Medicine Fellowship, Dr. Ewen was hired by PAMF but soon realized that she ultimately wanted to start her own practice, in a spa-like setting, and without the rushed feeling common to large medical groups. She wanted to give her patients the time they needed and deserved. The only way to provide quality care is to take the time to listen, examine, diagnose, explain, treat, and reassure. She also wanted to create a medical spa dedicated to the feet, where patients could have foot and nail treatments without the fear of infection.
